The First Lady will invite the Summit spouses to visit the Pittsburgh Creative And Performing Arts School (CAPA) for a tour and performance with students and music masters including Yo-Yo Ma, Sara Bareilles and Trisha Yearwood. Pittsburgh CAPA recently received the Department of Education’s 2009 Blue Ribbon School award which honors schools that are either academically superior, or have made dramatic gains in student achievement and helped close the gaps in achievement among minority and disadvantaged students. This mid-morning event is pooled press.
In the early afternoon, The First Lady will invite Summit spouses to take a tour of the Andy Warhol Museum, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh that houses the definitive collection of art and archives from the renowned 20th century artist Andy Warhol, who was born and raised in Pittsburgh. Warhol’s work has been viewed by more than six million people throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.
After the tour, the First Lady will host a luncheon for Summit spouses in the museum.
