NPT
Erin McInnis checks in with this behind-the-scenes look at our 2009 production of Christmas at Belmont.
Every two years, the entire production staff here at NPT, as well as many people in other departments, come together to bring you, and the entire country, Christmas at Belmont. After two solid days of decorating, setting up cameras and equipment, designing lighting, and organizing and corralling hundreds of Belmont music students, not including the weeks of preparation, this year’s production is finally in the can. This past Monday night, hundreds of family members and music lovers filed into the Schermerhorn Symphony Center with the likes of Barbara Mandrell, figure skater Scott Hamilton and WKRN’s Anne Holt to be a part of Belmont University’s annual showcasing of the talented students in its music school. This is not to say that the program is now sitting on a shelf waiting to be aired. As I write this, the producers, director and editor are working around the clock to insure that the program you see on your television screen is the best it can possibly be.

Trisha Yearwood has always enjoyed the Christmas holiday, but now as a wife and step-mom to husband Garth Brooks’ three daughters, the time at home with their family is even more special. But even Trisha says that she has to limit her excitement when it comes time to decorate for Christmas.
“[I start decorating] the day after Thanksgiving … I mean the second after!” Trisha tells CMT. “Christmas is my favorite holiday, but it has to come when it comes. I’m one of those people who wants to put the lights up [before Thanksgiving], but I make myself wait.”

Garth Brooks, who came out of retirement over the weekend to begin his five-year run performing in Las Vegas, also celebrated his fourth anniversary to wife, singer Trisha Yearwood. And while he has some of the world’s finest restaurants at his disposal on the Vegas strip, he chose fast food to commemorate the occasion.
“That was our anniversary dinner,” he says in PEOPLE, of their late-night McDonald’s meal, adding that it wasn’t his first choice. “We had a big night planned and at the last minute they moved the youngest one’s Christmas carol program to that night. I promised them a big, fancy dinner, but we went and grabbed McDonald’s fries and went home.”
