1) "Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love" (Clay Mills, Tia Sillers)I just love what this song says. It talks about there are good things and bad things and everything in between that make up who you are. You have heartache and you have great things, and if you're lucky you find love. It's all those things that make you who you are. It's a great statement to make, and the song has a melody and a groove that are almost gospel. It was a fun song to record. Now we're having a chance to sing it live. It's so much fun to sing and people really respond.

2) "This is Me You're Talking To" (Karyn Rochelle, Tommy Lee James)I have loved this song. It was written by Karyn Rochelle, who wrote "Georgia Rain," and there are several of her songs on this album. She's just amazing. What makes this song so relatable and really moves you is that it is so vulnerable. You feel this person is being really honest and saying "I know it's over, but this is me. You don't have to pretend around me." It's just so honest and so personal. That's what makes it emotional. It's so beautiful.

3) "They Call It Falling For A Reason" (Matraca Berg, Jim Collins)What I love about this song is that it's about falling flat on your face in a romance and it says that in a way that's funny. I love the imagery in the first line that says "He had me spinning like a girl in a circus in a trapeze act." She's on the high wire and everything is awesome then you fall and hit the ground. It's a great analogy. They call it falling for a reason. I thought what a great way to look at it. The energy and groove of it draws me in and makes me want to hear it again.

4) Nothin' 'Bout Memphis (Jessi Alexander, Tommy Lee James)I love story songs and it's a story. It really paints a picture. It's like "The Song Remembers When" and "Walkaway Joe" and I gravitate toward those kinds of songs. I love the idea that she's driving through town with her new love. He's trying to show her the town, but she's sitting there with this knot in her stomach. She knows that he has no clue she was here with somebody else. It's a powerful, powerful song and musically it's like a double punch. It has such a great melody.

5) "We Tried" (Chris Stapleton, Liz Rose, Morgane Hayes)There are some really cool lyrics in this song, a lot of poetic lyrics. It says "I'm honest when I tell the truth and I'm lying when I lie." I love that. There's a line that says "I'm tired of wearing lonely shoes." I just think that's a great line. Again, it's just an honest song that says here's what is good about me and here's what's bad about me. It says I'm scared to go forward here, but I'm more afraid not to, and if it doesn't work out, we can at least say we tried. It's an honest statement about how getting into a relationship can scare you.

6) "Let the Wind Chase You" with Keith Urban (Karyn Rochelle, Sallie Barris)It's just stunningly beautiful. I was so struck by the vulnerability and the honesty in this song. It's about a woman who is in love with somebody and realizes that it's never going to get any better, and finally comes to the realization that it's not her fault. She finally just says "I don't want to have to work this hard and it's not me. Let the wind chase you. I can't do it anymore." It's beautiful and I heard Keith's voice on this song a year ago when I first heard the demo. It's such a sweet intimate song and I just heard his voice in my head. I sent him the song and he immediately said "Yes."

7) "Dreaming Fields" (Matraca Berg, Gary Harrison)It's one of those songs that I had to have on my record. I always have something that's a little different and it's a beautiful song. I dedicated this song to the memory of Matraca's grandparents, Inga and Elmer Berg, because she wrote it about them losing their farm. It was emotional for me because my grandparents were South Georgia dairy farmers. They passed away and the farm went to my uncle. It was during the early 90s when the government was buying out dairy farms to keep farmers in business and the price of milk up. My uncle's farm was one of those bought out. I really understood this song when I heard it and wanted to sing this story.

8) "Cowboys Are My Weakness" (Karyn Rochelle, Jim McCormick, Hillary Lindsey)We've been doing this live and it's really kind of campfire-sounding. It's just fun and people applaud during the song. I've been telling people about the new album in my shows and I always say "There's a song on there called 'Cowboys Are My Weakness,' which should be self-explanatory," and people laugh. Except for the two-stepping, it's pretty much my husband. We don't go two-stepping, but other than that it's him. It's different than anything else I've ever done and I just love what it says. I thought it was really sweet.

9) "Help Me" (Leslie Satcher, Billy Joe Walker, Jr.)I heard this song a long time ago and loved it. I love Leslie. I love her voice and the way she delivers a song and writes a song. This is just honest and in your face. It says "You're always so strong. You always do the right things, and I feel like I'm just hanging on by a thread. Help me. Help me figure it out." I love that. I love what it says. And that's about as country as I can get right there. It's pretty traditional.

10) "Not A Bad Thing" (Sunny Russ, Dave Berg, Deanna Bryant)The thing about this song that I love the most is that this woman goes home by herself. Having three daughters, I try so hard to teach them that their happiness depends on them, and it's not about finding a man to make you happy. The woman in the song has just gotten through a bad relationship and I love that she says "I used to feel sorry for people sitting in a café, having a cup of coffee by themselves, but I'm finding out that's not a bad thing." At the end of the song, she goes up to her door alone and says to herself "That's not a bad thing." My theory--at least from my personal experience--is you don't really learn to be happy in a relationship until you learn to be happy on your own.

11) "Nothin' About You is Good For Me"(Karyn Rochelle)Thank goodness Karyn was bitterly hurt and wounded by a relationship cause she got some awesome songs from it (Trisha says laughing). I've told her "I'm so glad that guy broke your heart cause it's made you write some really great songs." This one is just fun. It says "You're a loser. Just leave me alone. There's not a thing about you that's good." It's man-bashing, but there's only one man she's bashing. I just love the whole vibe of this song.

12) "Drown Me"(Jessi Alexander, Pat McLaughlin)This is a song about people who break up and they decide to get together and drink until they can't lie about what went wrong. It's an honest statement, but it's done very tongue-in-cheek. It's really fun. There's a lot of up tempo on this record. Jim Lauderdale sings harmony on this. I thought it just had that sound that he does so well.

13) "Sing You Back to Me" (Tony Arata, Gene Nelson)This is all about my dad. The song says "If I could write a song that would bring you back to me, it would be the only song I'd ever sing." Listening to the demo, I would just cry and cry. I thought I really want to sing this, and it's so personal to me. I'm not sure if Garth Fundis really got it, but I just kept at it. I said I just want to cut it for me, if I just have it to play for my mom and my sister. That was the last song we cut and that was the first take. I had a really hard time getting through it. If you listen closely, there are things that are not perfect. I was very emotional. After I sang it, Garth said "Ok, I get it. You have to put this on the record." It's the most personal song for me--even though I didn't write it-that I've ever done.
